Right off the bat, the writers take away YY’s fear and worries in his battle with Ushio, there’s no struggle, there’s no sweat or even doubt that the other Yuugi could lose in the anime. Actually, YY especially, but those are my sentiments. This is very similar to my own feelings, only S0 did some pretty bad things characterization wise for YY, Yuugi, Jounouchi, and Anzu. Sort of what shinymarshmallon did, I’m not saying you’re feelings are wrong or that anything you’re saying is bad, this is just me enjoying what you have to say and wanting to put in my own two cents

I guess you could sum up how I feel about it like this: I enjoy it for what it is, but I dislike that it wasn’t what it could have been. It is VERY cheesy and not NEARLY as dark as everyone claims it to be, but it is kinda messed up in some ways and I really like that about it. I thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread since it did something I really liked: it focused on the fact that Yuugi and his other self were the Kings of ALL Games, and it included the penalty games given by the Other Yuugi in the original manga. Now, all this being said, I still have a soft spot for “Season Zero,” simply because I discovered it right at the peak of my interest in Yu-Gi-Oh!. But despite making the same claim in the anime, he decided it would still count if his goons beat Yuugi in his place. ? Why? Like, first of all, Kaiba’s obsession with defeating Yuugi in the manga was such that he had to do it by his own hands, and he acted on it.
